On Friday, February 2, we will celebrate the Feast of Presentation of the Lord at the 9:00 AM Mass. The Presentation of the Lord takes place 40 days after Christmas and it is when Mary and Joseph took Jesus to the Temple in Jerusalem 40 days after he was born and presented him to the Lord. All are welcome to bring unlit candles to be blessed.
Did you know that St. Blaise saved the life of a boy who had a fishbone stuck in his throat by ordering the child to cough it up? That is why St. Blaise is the patron saint of throat illnesses. From the eighth century he has been invoked on behalf of the sick, especially those afflicted with illnesses of the throat.
We will be celebrating his feast day on Saturday, February 3 at the 9:00 AM First Saturday Mass. All are invited to participate in the Blessing of the Throats.
